THE LIGHT - THE NEW MOVIE BY TOM TYKWER

After seven years and four seasons with the TV series "Babylon Berlin", writer and director Tom Tykwer has once again made a movie for the big screen with THE LIGHT.

Tykwer paints a portrait of a family caught between collapse and a new beginning and deals with the big issues of our time in a world that is reeling. Tim (Lars Eidinger), Milena (Nicolette Krebitz), their almost grown-up twins and their illegitimate son Dio - this is the Engels family, who seem to have nothing holding them together when housekeeper Farrah enters their lives. The mysterious Syrian woman puts the Engels' emotional world to an unexpectedly wild test.

Tom Tykwer on his movie: "After quite a long time, which I spent in the roaring 20s with 'Babylon Berlin', I can finally turn my attention back to the present. In THE LIGHT, there is arguing, wrestling and fighting, but there is also laughter, singing and dancing. The movie aims to challenge the spectrum of emotions and the corresponding narrative possibilities. And the characters are very familiar to me. So I want to try to reflect their inner turmoil and at the same time their solidarity for the audience and make it tangible.

Filming took place in Berlin and the surrounding area, North Rhine-Westphalia and Kenya.
