Jörg Westphal
I'm a true child of '68, born in Suhl, Thuringia. I grew up in a country where bananas were rare, but bratwurst and dumplings were plentiful. The end of the world was only a few kilometers away - the state border. Maybe that's why I wanted to become a cosmonaut or helicopter pilot. Instead, I stayed on the ground, did my A-levels and planned to study medicine.
But then came the turning point: A man accidentally promised freedom and the wall came down. Before he took it back, I booked a ticket to Miami - to fly at last! The desire to become a doctor vanished and I became a nurse. At the same time, I started acting and discovered my passion for acting. To this day, being on stage or in front of the camera feels like flying - without a rocket.
