A magical place
It is a place that has served as a source of inspiration for many poets and thinkers and has been the setting for many feature films. The former Hotel Talhof, situated at the end of a valley, directly on the steep slopes of the Semmering in Austria. A historic building complex from the turn of the century, which was lovingly restored last year. "It really is a magical place, very special," says Doina Weber, who has been there several times for theater productions. The Austrian emperor spent his hunting vacations there, Arthur Schnitzler settled there to write many works, such as "Das weite Land", and now the former hotel has become a theater that invites people to readings and panel discussions with journalists, politicians and philosophers alongside the plays. One of the upcoming productions will be the play "Am Ende eines kleinen Dorfes", directed by Anna Maria Krassnigg and based on the novella "Die Totenwacht" by Marie von Ebner-Eschenbach. Doina Weber is looking forward to this work because she has worked with the director for many years and is particularly looking forward to her time at the Talhof. "The summers are incredibly beautiful there. As an Actors , it's just great because you can concentrate on your work there and go hiking and enjoy nature after rehearsals." The actress is also looking forward to Anna Maria Krassnigg's production. "Am Ende eines kleinen Dorfes" is a three-person play in which a young woman sits on the coffin after her mother's funeral. She is approached by a man with whom she has had a long and tragic relationship, as soon becomes clear. The young woman wants nothing more to do with him and rejects him. However, he does not let up and makes it clear to her that he wants to marry her. She settles the score with him at the open coffin. Doina Weber will be both the dead mother, the living mother and the narrator's voice. "I'm curious to see how the director will solve this. But I've worked with her several times before, so I know she'll do a great job."
