3RD UP-AND-COMING SCREENPLAY FESTIVAL THE POWER OF STORIES

Ella Lee is nominated for the German Newcomer Screenplay Award

They want young scripts for the German movie and Ella Lee has the chance to show the power of her story KÖNIG DER MÖWEN:

9-year-old Erik has to spend the summer with his grandfather on the North Sea coast. The reclusive man only speaks Low German and feeds the seagulls. In order to finally get through to his estranged grandfather, Erik resorts to a radical measure with an air rifle.

Twenty unfilmed screenplays by young authors up to the age of 27 have been pre-selected for the German Newcomer Screenplay Award from 136 submissions. Seven works from this shortlist are nominated for the German Newcomer Screenplay Award. The expertjury will ultimately award two screenplays. The prizes are endowed with 2000 euros each - donated by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). In addition, the winners receive a mentorship with a professional screenwriter.

The award ceremony will take place on November 9, 2024 at the Künstlerhaus Hannover.

Cooperation partners are the German Screenplay Association (DDV), casting network and, for the first time this year, the Production Alliance.
