The wall between us
Perfect timing: 30 years after the fall of the Berlin Wall, this German-German love story is released in cinemas on the very day of reunification. 16-year-old Anna from the West travels with a youth group to a meeting in East Berlin. She quickly falls in love with the rebellious pastor's son Philipp. Neither the Wall nor her parents can stop their love affair. A dramatic incident leads to forced radio silence. The two only meet after the fall of the Berlin Wall - but their reunion is written in the stars. With a great deal of love for the characters and plenty of real-life socialist retro features, this youth drama takes a journey "over there", providing millennials with entertaining insights into recent history. Excerpt from a film review by Dieter Oßwald:... Based on the autobiographical novel by Katja Hildebrand, award-winning youth film director Norbert Lechner ("Toni Goldwascher") tells this German-German teenage love story with a light touch, a great deal of empathy and a palpable love for his characters. Lea Freund ("Die Nachtschwestern") and Tom Bülow ("Unter dem Sand") play the smitten couple with great credibility and empathy potential. The real-life socialist setting shines with grey retro charm.D 2019Director: Norbert LechnerActors: Lea Freund, Tom Bülow, Fritz Karl, Leon Blaschke, Till Demuth, Lars FeithFilm length: 110 minutesDistributor: Alpenrepublik FilmverleihDistributor: FilmperlenCinema release: 3.10.2019
