"Nice mess"
In November 2019, director Wolfgang Murnberger ("Nothing to Lose", "Eternal Life") shot the comedy "Schönes Schlamassel". In order to win over Anne (Verena Altenberger), a bookseller with a passion for Judaism, young surgeon Daniel (Maxim Mehmet) pretends to be Jewish and becomes hopelessly entangled in a web of white lies.
"This movie strikes a perfect balance between humor and thoughtfulness. Humor can help to explain complex issues and inhuman behavior in such a way that people watch, learn and change their way of thinking. That's how you entertain at a high level!" says Dieter Hallervorden about the movie.
He describes his role as the Jewish author Schlomo Wisniewski as follows: "Schlomo is a person who, as the author of his memoirs, describes things that he has not experienced himself, but which he only knows from the stories of others. He allows the reader to experience memories of the Holocaust that he passes off as his own. For me, Schlomo is someone who was so deeply impressed by the reports of the concentration camp atrocities that at some point he processed them as self-perceived in a kind of reality shift.
Of course, his behavior is criminally relevant, but morally forgivable because it is done with good intentions."
